Thief

Thief, Thief, Thief
the orange breasted mama robin bird said in grief and disbelief.
I saw you as I was returning back to my nest to gather some food to feed myself so that my body could be full and strong to sit upon my eggs until they could be born.
A robber that is what you are.  Bigger and stronger and your wings you did spread much longer and wider than mine.  I knew it would be best to go ahead and let you take one of mine since only one egg you can hold in your mouth at one time.  I know you will prey upon it until you have pecked its shell away and make it unsafe and consume it all without thinking I wouldn't want someone stronger than me to take my unborn away.  What rights do anyone have to come like a thief in the night and take what they want and don't care if they leave you in dismay because you had to be away to get the necessities to strengthen yourself so that you too can have health, wealth and prosperity so you will never have to beg for anyone to help. I can’t be at two places at once, so I will save my own-self.  You are God’s creation and not mine alone.

About this poem

The fear that people feel when they have no power to protect or save themselves from higher authority or from people that bully and reject opinions and counseling from those they consider outsiders. What other choice do they have but to save themselves because their seeds will be better off dead, since the curses of sins and death will not let them off of the path of destruction. Let the dead bury the dead.
