My tribute to your legacy

Unconditional love, personified to the core, you were, in your own special way,
Compassion, but another hallmark of your glorified being,
An epitome of patience and grace, come what may,
Unflinching faith in god punctuated your life, when life was most trying.

No matter how imperfect I am, there’s someone who’ll always love me,
No matter how immature I am, there’s someone who’ll always accept me,
No matter how bad things are now, light’s just round the corner,
These are the rules you lived your life by, the way you’ve shown me to live mine.

For all the times I’ve defaulted in the values you inculcated in me,
For all the times I’ve not loved and forgiven all, the way you wanted me to,
For all the time I’ve cursed and blamed, for my misfortunes, everyone but me,
I’m sorry mom, I now wish I’d not have hurt you, would have but listened to you,

You’ve now kissed me good bye, and have left me have my say,
But not before exemplifying yourself the right way to live life, the divine way,
I now understand god does not create moms, he only creates angels,
I’ve learnt my lesson now mom, albeit late,
I now humbly seek your divine blessings,
To live the rest of my life the way you dreamt of, the way you wanted,
To try to emulate your rich legacy, that you lived your life by,
This will be my final gift to you,
To let you know I adored you all along, will always do.
