September Eleventh
A day that will forever remain,
In the depths of our hearts, a stain.
A tragedy that shook the world,
September Eleventh, it unfurled.
On a crisp autumn day,
In the city that never sleeps, they say.
The sun was shining bright and clear,
But little did we know, it was a false veneer.
The city was bustling with life,
Amidst the chaos, a sense of strife.
Towers standing tall and proud,
The World Trade Center, a symbol loud.
But then, out of nowhere, a plane appeared,
And the sound of fear, it quickly seared.
It crashed into the tower with a deafening roar,
And in that moment, our lives were forever tore.
Screams echoed through the streets,
As people ran, their hearts skipping beats.
Smoke filled the air, a thick gray cloud,
As the tower stood proud, but oh so cowed.
The world watched in disbelief,
As the second tower, it too faced the grief.
Another plane, another crash,
A wound that seemed impossible to stash.
Amidst the chaos, heroes emerged,
Brave souls, who selflessly surged.
They rushed in to save those in need,
The true embodiment of human creed.
In a matter of minutes, the towers collapsed,
A sight that left us all completely ransacked.
The city was now covered in dust and ash,
And in that moment, all we could do was gnash.
The world stood still, as we watched in pain,
Our hearts aching, with nothing to gain.
Thousands of lives, gone in a blink,
It all seemed too surreal, we couldn't think.
But amidst the rubble and the debris,
A sense of unity, we did see.
People coming together, hand in hand,
As we tried to make sense of this terrible land.
The days, the weeks, the months that followed,
Our hearts were heavy, our wounds still raw and hollowed.
But we persevered, we stood tall and strong,
And in that, we knew, we could never go wrong.
September Eleventh, a date that will forever stand,
In the halls of history, etched by an unseen hand.
A day that showed us the worst of humanity,
But also the best, our true sense of unity.
The city may have been broken, but not our spirit,
We rose from the ashes, our will, we did inherit.
And though we may never forget the pain,
We choose to remember, the love that did remain.
So let us take a moment, on this day,
To honor those who were taken away.
To remember the heroes, who answered the call,
And to rise above hate, and stand tall.
September Eleventh, a day that changed us all,
But through it all, we didn't stumble, we didn't fall.
For we are a nation, united and strong,
And in our hearts, the victims will forever belong.
