SAVIOUR
SAVIOUR
Akinnate Oluwatobiloba
Cold corpse stacked—
Memories of our ugly past.
We bear scars
of souls massacred,
Sinking our suffocating hearts
in rivers of anguish.
Songs of death play endlessly
in our grieving minds,
Our sacred groans, renounced
by a saviour's deafened ears;
Thought to bring respite from torture
but now plagues with horror,
Engraving pain on both young and old.
The asperity you bring
Sends lives fleeing to distant lands
for succour.
When will your eyes behold the afflicted?
When will your ears incline to the wails of the innocent?
Our cries seep from the mire.
