Gqhebhera

Port Gqhebhera
At the coast line , by the bay so beautiful and clear,
Sleeps city with a story, a place we hold dear.
Gqhebhera, Port Elizabeth, a city with a heart,
Rich in history, beauty, like a sparkling light.
From the days of the Khoisan, the land’s first keepers,
To the Portuguese explorers, bold ocean seekers.
British settlers arrived, Fort Frederick they raised,
A bustling port emerged, history blazed.
From the apartheid’s shadows, a light did break through,
In Gqhebhera’s streets, the fight for freedom grew.
Activists stood tall, voices strong and clear,
Their courage and resilience forever held dear.
Beaches of golden sand,
Kings beach, full of life and a great place for surfing,
Hobbies beach, with the great view of the horizon,
Sardinia Bay, a place where nature and soul bond.
Addo Elephants park, a place that keeps nature alive,
To sandboarding down dunes, beneath the clear blue sky.
Food that tantalizes, flavors to smell and share,
Beers shack keeps the City alive at night with the sound of music.
