EVEN AS I PRAY

EVEN AS I PRAY

Still in the night
A whisper of fright
Fog of mystery.
Death of history
Rewinding the pages
Of man's forgotten ages

Times of ending
Tearing, rending
Rites of youth
The Devil's truth
All caught unaware
Hell's deep snare

Drums are beating
Bugle's bleating
Eyes all shut
As swords cut
A silent prayer
For hope anywhere

Bomb blast ring
Patriotically we sing
Of a Land of the free
Brave enough for me
As death's pale face
Shatters on His Grace

The end isn't just
The might that must
Bash away our fear
For Salvation is here
Tears replaced by joy
Darkness can't destroy

Looking through a sight
Will I live through the night?
In the rockets red glare
And deaths ugly stare
So I fight, on anyway
Battle on, even as I pray
Amen
