Raining in Paris

In whispered tones, the skyline weeps,
Beneath a shroud of leaden skies,
Each drop a sigh from memory's keep,
A mournful dance where lost love lies.

The cobblestones wear glistening tears,
Reflecting echoes of laughter past,
Where lovers once shared dreams and fears—
Now shadows linger; moments cast.

Montmartre’s heart beats slow and gray,
Where artists painted vibrant bliss;
Their colors fade like dreams today—
What strokes remain when nothing’s missed?

The Seine swells heavy with despair,
Each ripple carries tales untold:
Of rendezvous that filled the air—
Of hands entwined so warm yet cold.

Cafés stand silent by the streetlight's glow;
Once alive with voices rich and clear.
Now rain falls soft as whispers grow—
An elegy sung to those held dear.

Oh Paris! Your beauty draped in gloom,
Yet still you hold our tender grief.
In every droplet's fall resumes
A promise forged—a fleeting leaf.

Let this rain cleanse what time can't save;
An anthem for love that's come undone;
For all who danced but could not brave
The tempests brewing beneath the sun.

So let it pour on hallowed ground—
These tears of joy and sorrow meshed;
In every stormward glance be found
The quiet place where hearts refreshed.

And though the skies may bide their time,
This city wears its scars like lace:
Raining now—a haunting rhyme,—
Forever etched upon this place.
