Elegy of the sunrays

In the tender hours of dawn,
you danced upon the horizon,
golden fingers unfurling skyward,
casting whispered promises on waking earth.

O sunrays—once so bold and forthright,
you kissed the dew from morning leaves,
spilled warmth onto cold stone paths.
Each beam an artist's brushstroke,  vivid against shadows' retreat.

But now they linger in memory’s embrace,
fading like laughter in quiet rooms;
your brilliance a fleeting specter—
echoes of yesterday’s glow.

I recall you breaking through winter clouds—
a soft reminder that even the bitterest chill succumbs.
You warmed weary hearts once shadowed by doubt;
each ray a lifeline threaded with hope.

Yet here I stand beneath this dimming veil,
where twilight has stitched pallor to your light.
The world feels heavier without your kiss;
grief hangs thick as fog over open fields.

Do you wander still through distant skies?
Or have you slipped into realms unseen?
Wherever you may roam beyond the azure swell—not forgotten;
for in our lasting sorrow lies the pulse of your flame.

So let us remember:
the whispers shared between day and night;
how we clutched at moments glistening bright,
as children grasp at fireflies—
brief sparks illuminating darkness' expanse.

Farewell sweet rays—you taught us to rise;
even as dusk envelops all that remains,
we cradle fragments where sunlight sung—
and carry your warmth within aching chests,
shadows calmed by love long held tight.
