Literary echoes of my soul

I’ve read the tales of Shakespeare,
Worn Dostoevsky’s sadness,
Practiced Wordsworth’s romantic longing,
Camus's absurdism seems my truth.

I never believed in love,
Yet Tolstoy’s realism made me do so.
Maya Angelou's words have been my guide,
Her encouragement woven into my life.

I’ve proudly declared to many times,
"That I come from Western Kenya," inspired by Chimamanda Ngozi.
I’ve strived to be just, a man of integrity,
As Harper Lee portrayed in To Kill a Mockingbird.

Many days I’ve dwelt in solitude,
Maybe, as Murakami wrote, it’s my true nature.
John Green, hear me now:
I’ve been Augustus Waters for years,
Left only to find my Hazel Grace.

Like her, I seek life’s meaning,
To know what awaits when I depart.
Before oblivion takes its course,
I wish to live to the fullest.
I don't want to age like wine,
Nor grow old while still so young,
Nor die before I've truly lived.
