Weaponized

I read the poem time and time again
Wondering what the blogger could possibly gain
When he made other people's tears rain

What was going on in his head
Maybe, he didn't see the scandal ahead
Why many go through hell by his lead

Was it just the right to write
Or was he another night knight
Who weaponized ink to slight

Maybe, he's a keyboard warrior
A weakling who feels stronger
When he boxed people into a corner

What a weaker power of aggression
He sees as freedom of expression
In wanting to make a viral impression

I feel such poets are wayward
Who hides under pen name like a coward
Sadistic, and largely psychopathic inward

About this poem

When your writings make people tear as rain, and go through hell, were you just wielding your power and might, abusing the freedom of expression?

 · 1971 · Owerri

Owerri, Nigeria since 1971. This is how I process and express my innermost cogitations; sitting back with pen and paper, painting words and polishing them until they become flowered verses. I guess for these actions, I could be called a poet or what do think? more…

It behooves on the poet to answer that, honestly. Not every writing will bring a smile. Some will cause "tears to rain."

This poem "Weaponized" critiques a poet and a blogger who uses their writing to cause harm and provoke strong emotional reactions in readers.

The speaker questions the motivations behind the writer's words, wondering if they derive satisfaction from the pain and chaos their writing incites.

The writer is depicted as potentially disconnected from the consequences of their words in anonymity, but possibly driven by a desire for attention or a misguided sense of power.

The poem suggests that such behavior is a form of aggression masked as freedom of expression, criticizing it as cowardly and harmful.

Overall, "Weaponized" explores themes of responsibility in writing and a stop to unethical using of words to manipulate and hurt others.
