Garbage

I’m still a piece of human garbage
An addict chasing dopamine release
And in my dirty t-shirt
My boxers
I sit on that leather couch we found at a yard sale
Looking at shadows of you
Decorating for all those
Commercial holidays
Asking my opinion with a
Smile on your face
You knew I didn’t care
You asked anyways
Always smiling
Always burning the dinner
Always telling me how handsome
I looked in my fake police uniform—
The guard shack by the plant
My badge made of plastic
My bagged lunch crinkles from your hand prints
You made me a hero in between bites of peanut butter and jelly
You always smelled like peanut butter
Where did you come from?
Why were you with me?
Poor taste or extreme sympathy
I don’t care
I’m a piece of human garbage
An addict chasing a dopamine release
