So Cold

Stronghold 1989 (Greensboro)

So cold, the chill hits my skin
An icy blanket wrapped within
Frigid fingers grip my soul
Leaving me feeling beyond control
So cold, the air bites my breath
Freezing my lungs in its deadly depth
As I walk through this barren land
My heart sinks in the frozen sand
So cold, the winter's wrath
A frozen world in its frigid path
Trees stand naked, stripped of leaves
Nature's beauty now frozen and trapped in freeze
So cold, my footsteps echo loud
Breaking the silence, like a beast unbound
The ground beneath, a frozen sea
But my heart still beats, in this cold, I am free
So cold, the sky a dull grey
The sun hides, too afraid to stay
Clouds heavy with snow, ready to fall
A never-ending cycle, a frozen call
So cold, my fingers numb
But my mind races, my spirit's still young
For in this cold, I find my might
In this frozen world, I take flight
So cold, my breath a misty cloud
As I walk on, proud and unbowed
Despite the chill, I carry on
For in this cold, my true strength is born
So cold, but my heart still beats
My will unbroken, my spirit defeats
The frozen grip, trying to hold me down
For in this cold, my strength knows no bounds
So cold, but I refuse to surrender
My heart burns, a powerful ember
A fire within, keeping me warm
In this frozen world, I will not conform
So cold, the world may seem dead
But in this stillness, my soul is fed
For in this cold, I am reborn
A survivor, in this frozen morn
So cold, but I am not alone
For nature's creatures have made this their home
And in their resilience, I find my own
In this cold, I have grown
So cold, a harsh and bitter place
But in this cold, I find my grace
For when the world is at its most severe
I find my strength, in this cold and drear
So cold, but I embrace the freeze
For in this cold, I find my peace
A world transformed, a frozen state
But in this cold, I learn to appreciate
So cold, a never-ending journey
But in this cold, I find my glory
For through the frost, I am reborn
In this frozen world, I am forever adorned.
