Belong to you

I wanna be your quiet night,
The warmth that holds you tight.
Like the shadow in your room,
I’ll chase away the gloom.

I wanna be your favorite song,
The one you’ve played for far too long.
Echoing in your heart and mind,
A melody you always find.

Let me be the coffee that you crave,
That pick-me-up you always save.
I’ll be the sugar in your cup,
When your days are feeling rough.

I wanna be your steady light,
Guiding you when nothing’s right.
Like a lamp left on for you,
I’ll burn for all you’re going through.

I’ll be the warmth in winter’s chill,
The constant when the world stands still.
Let me be your every thought,
The only one you’ve ever sought.

I wanna be your hidden smile,
The secret glance you wear a while.
Like a whisper in your ear,
I’ll be the one to hold you near.

So if you’re lost, or feeling small,
I’ll be the one to catch your fall.
I wanna be yours, if you’ll be mine—
The place where all your stars align.

About this poem
