FLOATING ABOVE FEAR

Nature tries to tell it all,
Like the deep waters that threaten to swallow you.
When drowning, it’s the fear that sinks you deeper.
The more you fight, the more you lose control—
Frustration building as you grasp for breath, only to lose it.

You fight with every inch of yourself, just for one gasp,
Wanting so much to get a word out, only to swallow them all.
The very water that gives life forces death down your throat.
Why? Because you keep fighting instead of letting go.

The only way to survive is to surrender,
To let the water take control,
Relaxing body and mind, leaving yourself at its mercy.
Then, you’ll float.

That is the lesson anxiety has taught me.
When I feel it coming, fear creeps in and fight mode ignites.
The more I resist, the harder it pushes back,
Until I surrender, face what the worst could be—
And it’s never as bad as I thought.
