The Quietly Goodbye

I’ve laid my soul in your open hands,
A fragile promise that quietly stands.
I’ve given you love both raw and true.
A tender life that now holds us two.

But!
Where are you now as shadows fall?
In silence I reach in silence I call.
I search for warmth in the spaces we made,
But the echos of you are beginning to fade.

How can love feel both close and far.
A hollow warmth a missing star?
I’m left with whispers a fading trace, an empty room a  ghost of your face.

You told me not to worry not to fear, that you’re happy that you’re near.
But happiness shouldn’t feel this cold.
A love that was broken to fragile to hold.

If only you knew the weight I bear,
The nights I wait the silent prayers.
