Forever Part of Thee

If I'm a leaf upon your tree,
don't go disrespecting me.
You may be thinking to let me go,
and in my place another grow.

But let me drop, and you will see,
among the thousands you cannot be.
For forever unique this leaf to me,
it formed your rings; it's part of thee!

Those cherished moments, those feelings grew.
Through all the seasons, we've known what’s true.
So among the crowds, you may lament,
for the love we shared was time well spent.

I prayed to you before the fall,
reflect the leaves in which we shared our all.
But our heart’s commitment, our love declared,
was cast aside without a care.

So even though our time is through,
forget me not and mark it true.
Alas, this leaf will always live!
In me as well as you.
