Whispers of Affection

In secret, my heart beats for you,
A rhythm that only love can do.
With every word, every shared smile,
My soul entwined, all the while.

As friends, we talked through endless nights,
Laughter and dreams, our bond ignites.
But hidden deep, a truth I concealed,
A love so strong, yet unrevealed.

The day I confessed, my heart aflame,
Hope and fear, an uncertain game.
Your response, a gentle, kind decline,
A door closed, leaving me to re-align.

Though one-sided, love remains true,
A beauty that forever shines through.
No regret, for feelings expressed,
A lesson learned, a heart impressed.

In time, the ache will slowly fade,
Memories linger, a bittersweet shade.
Our friendship, though altered, remains,
A treasure cherished, love's refrains.

Your worth, unchanged, still shines bright,
A star that guided me through night.
I wish you joy, love's future find,
And though not mine, your heart entwines.
