Want

Want, an insatiable desire,
A yearning that burns like a fire,
It consumes our mind and soul,
And takes complete control.
We all want something in life,
Be it love, fame, or wealth rife,
We chase it with all our might,
In the darkness, we search for the light.
Want, a feeling that's hard to ignore,
It echoes within us, to the core,
It drives us to reach for the stars,
And break through all the bars.
Some want the simple things,
Like a warm hug or angelic wings,
They crave for a peaceful moment,
In a world that's constantly bent.
Others want power and fame,
To leave a mark, to make a name,
They'll do whatever it takes,
To rise above the rest, whatever it takes.
Some desires are pure and true,
Like a child's innocent view,
They want to be loved and cared,
In a world that's often scared.
But some wants are dark and twisted,
Like a thorn deeply rooted and twisted,
They bring destruction in their wake,
And leave nothing but heartache.
Want, a double-edged sword,
It can be a blessing or a horde,
It all depends on what we crave,
And how we choose to behave.
We want things we can't have,
And often forget to be glad,
For the things we already possess,
In our constant pursuit of excess.
We want to turn back time,
To make up for our past crime,
But time waits for no one,
Once it's gone, it's forever done.
We want to control our fate,
To choose the path we take,
But life is a fickle game,
It can never be tamed.
We want to escape our fears,
And the darkness that always veers,
But sometimes it's in the darkness,
That we find our truest happiness.
We want to be understood,
By the ones we love and could,
But sometimes words fall short,
And the heart remains unheard.
Want, a constant companion,
It's a part of the human condition,
It drives us to be better,
And also to lose our temper.
But in the end, what do we truly want?
Is it material possessions that will haunt?
Or is it the intangible things,
Like love, peace, and all that it brings?
It's a question we all must ponder,
For want can lead us to wander,
But if we pause and breathe,
We may find all that we need.
Want, a complex and beautiful emotion,
That fuels our every motion,
So embrace it, but with caution,
And let it lead you to your true devotion.
For want may be the driving force,
But it's what we do with it, of course,
That truly matters in the end,
So choose wisely, my dear friend.
