The Love of Jesus

You ask: "What is the Love of Jesus like?"
I don't know, it's hard to explain.
Are there even enough words to describe the
Love that knows no bounds?
Well, I suppose, if you like, I'll give it a go.

It is the tender touch on my shoulder when I stand in fear.
It is all so gentle but it lets me know that He is there.
I am not alone and all will be well.

It is when my heart is pounding and all is awry.
My mind is twirling and turning and nothing seems clear. And then I remember that hand on my shoulder.
So I turn to Him in awe
But desperate and broken and not sure at all.

I feel a pang in my heart- a tingle that somehow
Slows everything down.
It is Him,
He is stirring up a stillness that can't be explained.
But it is a stillness that makes me realise: things are just not that bad.

There may still be despair,
But now there is knowledge that He is working it out,
And there's no need for fear.

My heart now has hope.
A hope that is only built by love.
Love that feels like the cost blanket a baby is swaddled in.
A layer of protection as He carries me through.
And He whispers to me:
"Child, you are safe, you're okay and you're going to get through. Then one day you will see that every tear, every sorrow, every piece of joy, every single step was part of the puzzle, part of the great plans I have for you."

Then I turn to Him with overflowing joy
And overwhelming thanks
And I just don't believe all the things He has done
For me and for you.

So you asked: "What is the Love of Jesus like?"
It is one that never gives up and never just stops.
He doesn't take a day off.
It is a love that is always for you and never against you.
All you have to do is turn toward it.
Then that gentle touch on the shoulder will completely envelop you.
And then you will know that surely this is true love.
The best you can know.
A love that will never let you go.

Your poem deeply moved me, "What is the Love of Jesus like?" It's a beautiful and deeply personal exploration of faith, rendered in a way that feels both intimate and universally relatable. You've achieved something quite special here: making a complex, spiritual concept accessible and comforting, even for readers who may not share your specific beliefs.
