Alone…

I know what the darkness brings…
It sings of dark things so tempting…
Each more tempting than it’s predecessor…
Each speaks of things that cannot hurt us…

I know the silent omen of duplicity…
It sings of sorrowful things so wrapped in days of future past…
Each more tempting to contemplate than any dream of the future…
Each speaks of things that we could have changed…

I know the lucidity of the here and now…
It sings of friends that know better for you than to let time heal…
Each friend enticing you with a someone that they know can mend you…
Each speaks of things that they can somehow change…

I know the awful sin of pride to think I can mend alone…
It sings of standing alone against the tide of darkness that swells…
Each swell a challenge for you to overcome alone….
Each speaks of the folly of never letting it all go and just move on…

In the end, one is alone…but you must choose to stand

I think Orson Wells had a motto that echoes the vibe of your poem here....l may not resonate strongly with it, but l see how the gears are falling to get you here.
