Unlovely To Clarity
Unlovely To Clarity
Quiet time leads me to solitude,
All the unwanted refuse,
And all the forgotten, neglected things
In my life slowly emerge,
Drifting like lost relics
Deep in my dark soul pond.
The unlovely parts of me
Reveal the shadow self,
A child wrapped
In tattered echoes, left behind
In an empty house of memory,
Knocking on locked doors of belonging.
Secluded in solitude,
A necessary truth lingers
One I can’t abandon or ignore.
I come to terms now
Learn from, embrace, and take
The orphan’s trembling hand
The one who whispers
Lullabies to the moon
When no one answers back,
The one who dreams of home
While stranded in
The corridors of yesterday.
Nurturing these needs,
I discovered serenity is sometimes
Found in plain sight
The mind’s murky waters
Once stirred begin to still,
The cloudy view clears
As silt settles like forgotten sorrow
Returning to the riverbed of time.
Unlovely to clarity liberates,
Surrender unfolds to love
The mess is no longer
A sum total of where I’m going
I get to choose a free life!
