La Clairière



L’Engoulevent rôdait avec la souris chauve,
Lorsque sur la clairière au tapis verdoyant
La lune décocha son sourire ondoyant
Et mit à chaque feuille un glacis d’argent mauve.

Et j’envoyais du fond de cette forêt fauve
Un regard de mon cœur à l’astre chatoyant
Qui promenait sur l’herbe un reflet vacillant
Ainsi qu’une veilleuse au milieu d’une alcôve :

Soudain, je vis un être horriblement fluet
Qui cueillait çà et là des fleurs, d’un doigt muet.
Et tous les bruits du soir qui me semblaient si simples,

Ce bois stupéfié, cette lune dessus,
Me firent tressaillir, lorsque je m’aperçus
Que j’avais devant moi la chercheuse de Simples.
