A Little Taste

A little taste of ice cream, even a single lick,
is preferred to twenty scoops that's sure to make you sick.
A little touch of loving, even leading to gall,
is better to have and lose than know no love at all.
A little criticism, even unkindly said,
is like a kick in the pants that puts you steps ahead.
A little anxiety, even with rapid pulse,
is sufficient impetus where action won't avulse.
A little piquant vigor, even a grain of salt,
is a flavor enhancer and appetites exalt.
A little infirmity, even a nagging cold,
is a reminder that health exceeds riches untold.
A little sorry sadness, even feeling downcast,
is a vivid perspective which gives joy sharp contrast.
A little mental conflict, even indecision,
is grist for the mill of life for greater precision.
