Animals Should Train Us

Our pets love enormously without some condition
They passionately please us
for mere recognition

Our pets undertake and fail without discomfiture
They model merit for us
of abiding mixture

Our pets live in the moment without steady regret
They never do begrudge us
even when we beset

Our pets play excitedly without extreme restraint
They wholly entertain us
by acting as a feint

Our pets expose true feeling without silly disguise
They openly embrace us
as an eminent prize

Our pets forgive and forget without secret rancor
They excuse error in us
by being an anchor

Our pets we attempt to train to be like the human
But animals should train us
to have their acumen
