black and white

I was sitting in a local bar
When this old man sat down beside me
He said I can't help but notice son
That you don't look to happy
I told that old man to leave me alone
I wasn't looking for a fight
He said life is shades of gray son
It's not all black and white
At that point I asked that old man
What the hell you talkin about
He sat back in his chair
Took a swig of his beer And said
Love isn't black or white
 It's all shades of gray
You can love and hate someone
Love is just that way
You can be a good man
All the days of your life
But take one step out of line
And it becomes a bouble edged knife
I bought that old man a drink
And we went our separate ways
But I'll remember what that old man said
All the rest of my days
