Ode to the pipeline

Our neighbors to the south
Have opened their mouth
And with many a gripe
Have stopped the pipe

From crossing their land
So now we must stand
And take up the fight
To do what is right

For the pipe has snaked north
And from henceforth
Soughegan High school
Will be under the rule

Of no playing with matches!
As they open the latches
For beneath their feet
Runs the gasses that heat

Not their school
For we were played the fool
But a land far away
Across the bay

And we remain cold
And do as we're told
For no word was spoken
When the ground was broken

So while the hunters are tracking
Kinder Morgan will be fracking
And if they take a bad shot
And hit the wrong spot

The pipe will explode
And empty its load
As I sit at home
Writing a poem

About the fire in the sky
And those who did die
Wondering why
We believed those who did lie

The wealth of this land
Are the people who stand
And put up a fight
To do what is right

To stop those who would profit
As they dig their deposit
And realize a gain
From the land that they stain

So please take the time
After reading this rhyme
To review the whole deal
And see how you feel
