Something Like A Play

********

Sometime it seems to me, to be or not,
My life has been something like a play.
Like the whole world is a stage watching,
And Shakespeare has written every line.
Tell me, do you sometimes feel that way?
I mean, one day I am Romeo in love,
Looking for my Juliet only to find out,
She is either married or worse yet, dead.
Other times feeling like Ferdinand,
Oh that you were not my cousin my Dear!
“I would, not so! Hear my soul speak!”
But then alas I find that it is not so, nay,
For this curtain falls and this play ends.
Then I wake to find it is not so, no longer,
For am I to take the place on this throne,
When Fastolf continually makes me laugh,
While the true King rolls his eyes in spite!
Oh the tragedy in a comedy, such travesty,
My life is to be lived in such a way as this.
And then so as to make matters worse for me,
I become the fool of love once more for a nave,
A glance as Andrew also plays the fool for you.
For in this I have become as Malvolio in life,
The fool who would never suitor you for a wife!
Even Viola laughs at me as Sebastian takes,
No, he wins the heart of the women whom I love.
I guess my life is something like a play,
Let's see where tomorrow take me from today.
