For Those Who Remain

He lived a good life.
His friends loved him so,
and we cried many tears
at his time to go.
He was the center of all
life had to give.
A loving husband, father, son, brother and friend.
Our Mama's favorite child
– and yes, we all knew,
but we all forgave Mama
because we loved him too.

But time passes by
and we start to forget.
Our memories grow dim
of all the things that he did.
His devoted young wife
found new love with another.
His little boys grew up
with adventures to discover.
A Mama who never forgot his birthday.
God's took her home first
to save her heartbreak.

Yes, life's all about the living
for those who remain.
We take what we have left
and start over again.
When one chapter closes, another opens for you.
It's the way the Lord planned it
to help us get through.
God helps us get over
all the heartbreak and pain.
A new chapter opens
and we start over again.
