The Devil and The Old Lady

An Old lady so frail fell asleep by the fireplace there.
I can still hear the creak'n of that old rock'n chair

there in the corner stood someone with a sheepish Grin
It was the Devil
He'd let him self in.

He thought he would deceive the old woman
while she slept
He thought he would give her bad dreams
while she dreampt

He thought himself man of the hour, the voice of doom, but the old lady awoke, and she was armed with a broom

Oh she beat that old devil with that broom in her hand
and she smacked him back down when he tried to stand,

Finally he said I give up old lady, I can't take any more
and he left like he came,  back out that front door.
