Gone

Tabitha J. Bryson 1973 (Indianapolis, Indiana)

I felt my heart growing weaker
every agonizing day
dreadfully anticipating
the day you'd walk away.
I knew you would leave me
I felt it for sometime
knowing how unworthy I am
and you'd never really be mine.
But still I prayed
and I held in strong
time slowly passed away
leading you back to where you belong.
This day has now arisen
dark & dismal day
now the expected will happen
even among my pleas for you to stay.
I watch as you pack
amazed at what you leave behind
I sense no sadness in you
whilst I lose my mind.
Now as you stand
at what was once our front door
I accept that you'll be gone
today into forevermore.
'Tears I'll shed later....'
as I watch you till you disappear
that's what I told myself
that dreadful day last year.
Over 9 months have passed
still no tears have been shed
perhaps that day that I lost you
I also lost my head.
