THIS SCHOOL

R.J. Bernard 2007 (Massachusetts)

One moment to make things right, having to fight for a taste of true freedom. This school holds me down, this school is filled with ignorance, with favoritism. They say we have rights, but when you try to speak out, they’ll just target you, isolate you, try to get your friends to betray you, and when you hear all the snitchin and bitchin, you can't tell anything to anyone or else. Sometimes, I wish that, this school would treat people equally, and it makes me sad. This school preaches it try's to help kids become normal once more, let's talk about what normal really is. Is normal being fine with life? Is normal having two parents with a decent income, is normal having fun with your friends? Is normal having normal lungs and this and that, man this school is so wack, I can't stand this do-gooder shit no more, I thought this school was for me, I thought people in this school cared for me, but this schools a lie, they trap you in this false hope of returin, yet you'll never see your old friends. Schools like a prison, and not just this. But hey, if you try to run away because your mind can't handle this and the shit they say, they’ll come and tackle you, or call the cops on you, it's really all the same. I wanna runaway, from my life, try to find the map of hope, but I won't. Or will I? I see clearly, this school harbors violence, someone gets made fun of people don’t care, the staff don’t care unless it's made towards them, you see, people don’t care until it's affecting them, you see, violence controls the streets, but you can't, say or do certain shit no more, its considered offensive and a hate crime, it's ridiculous, man Im so sick of this school, and everything else. Too many, way too many, people worried, breathing heavy, my arms are loose, im feeling like jelly. I try to cope with things my way, I wanna do things my way, but I can't. This school ain’t for me, but im trapped inside for life.
