LITTLE SECRET
mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)
Memories are falling to pieces, and they do not seem the same anymore; they are closed doors that neither of us can return to. I tried to go to a happy place only if the ashes did not cover the ground and the lonely dove singing its song was the only sound.
Years like the wind have been lost paying their cost thoughts of our little secret hide before every corner of this world. They have not slept in centuries, and neither have I because I was standing by
Why do I feel this awful way? Can it be because my hair is turning to a silver shade of grey? I am broken, beaten, and bruised. What is left to say is that a piece of us dies daily. That's why I'm in love with the night.
I look inside the mirror. The face that looks back at me says those dreadful words: I miss us. Please do not tell our secret, the one we hide so well, the one inside our dreams; we can only live.
Promise me that you will not tell a soul, and we will take it to our graves; they will never understand how we must behave. One can find out the truth behind our little secret. You and I live a life without any regret. Those people that we call family and friends will never understand enough to forgive
To love is to sin, whisper our lies in the wind, cover our faces to hide our smiles as we pass each other by on the cities-covered streets, waiting for the next time we are alone to meet.
We should share our time in a dark alley every other Saturday night over a brown bag of the cheapest wine. Till then, let us keep our little secret
