Afraid To Admit
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
We live on a stage of life,
Many for decades...
Craving the spotlight.
To overnight seem being confronted.
By a truth avoided.
For lies to tell.
Not only to themselves.
But to others with a choosing,
Done to do as they please.
Today?
Most are afraid to admit,
Of not remembering...
To who and when,
Their lies were told.
And not to remember this,
Has come to threaten them.
More than any terrorist can.
Since truth to live as a way of life,
Never occurred.
Perhaps in an alternate universe.
But on this Earth?
No.
Not in the remotest of possibilities.
Although...
No one is left to suspect,
There could be someone...
Keeping notes.
Who has written and kept...
Every lie to them told.
By another who has deceived.
Feeding B.S. to others.
Eating it up.
Not to know,
It has all been make believe.
'Okay!
But how do we know,
What you say is true?'
'Have you ever listened,
To someone talk about themselves.
Then stop to say...
'What is the next line?
I can't believe I have forgotten it.
I hope you all don't mind.
Excuse me.
I have to call the scriptwriter.'
'Uh...hmmm.
All this time...
I was caught up in the act.
I thought that was part of it!'
'Really?
Then I guess you are also prepared,
For the 'intermission'.
'Intermission?
What intermission?'
'The one unannounced.
Between Act one and two.
