Settled In Heaven

God's Word is all I desire,
His Word stirs, compels, even when I tire
quick and immediate, palpable, living,
it cuts, exposes, reveals, lifts thought higher.

I pray for wide and broad vision
for quietude, patience, endurance,
I am tired to be always in a trial,
God, Your grace is greater than failure,
let love be a law within, carved in fire.

Still shall I be, still, my soul in living streams to rest,
twilight and dawn, one circle of Life, one bequest,
looking upward, holding on to His rod, His staff,
in timeless embrace, my journey unfolds on His path.

A re-assuring promise from a source other than the Bible. Thank you for your comment. And yes, Heb. 4:12 is what the poem is about. God bless

Beautiful poem. Its sentiment reminds me of a passage from Swedenborg’s “Arcana Colestia” (AC 8455):

“Peace holds within itself trust in the Lord, the trust that He governs all things and provides all things, and that He leads towards an end that is good.”

The allusion to Hebrews 4:12 was also a delightful add-in. Again, lovely piece.

Thank you for taking the time to really read this poem. Your comment is insightful and made me think... again. I wrestle daily on my spiritual walk, and your review tells me that if what comes out of it stirs other poets... it's worth the struggle. Thank you

As goes the message of this poem, so too an inquiry that spans all of humanity. These are the things we all ponder as we seek our place in this world. Whether or not people realize it, we all wrestle with some form of God, even those who choose not to believe, otherwise what are they choosing not to believe in but the very God they deny exists. This is a deeply profound piece, Donka. Thank you for sharing your gift.

I love that God's words have that effect on you even when tired. " "Grace greater than failure" paints a picture of hope.
"Let love be a law within" that guides us all. Thanks for sharing this great piece. Please continue writing.
