Analysis of THE CUPID

As awake as the morning
Is the consciousness of Cupid’s art.
Piercing like an arrow’s boring,
Its lovely weapons cut.
As undulate as a river,
My blood does gush and I quiver.
As “au contraire” to LOVE – Diabolos;
As custodial of SACRIFICE – Romeos.
Many a cupids wilt find their life’s event
As sea-river-estuary their final convert.
Its clouds shalt clothe thee like aviary garment,
And arrows impale thee to pleasant torment.
It shalt summon Ariel’s breezes about thee,
And an infinite measure of Venus’ charity.
Damsels shalt look upon thee with gentil giddiness.
Valors shalt attend thy need with ever readiness.
Stay put, await the execution of Cupid’s darts;
Like the blissful strutter of a firing squad’s.
Thou shalt not die, but thine eyes shalt be open.
The colours of love shalt array thy frame upon
Till thou shalt at last become a Cupid-
A master of woo and charm intrepid.
