Don’t Cross Me

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

From the horns of the unicorns they cried out
But no one seemed to hear them
They won’t repent of all their sins
And who has come to fear Him?

They curse and swear and shake their fists
The One enthroned in heaven laughs
But then rebukes them for their gaffes

Cold and hungry, turned away
Poor man come back another day
Imprisoned, sick and oh so weak
To them I had to turn my cheek

They killed me, I’ll be back again
Then I’ll repay those wicked men
