Backyard Maple

Russell Anderson 1962 (San Bernardino)

Green backyard maple
Soon quadruples in color
Restoring the soul

About this poem

My 2nd Haiku. Sitting in the living room, looking out the back window at green maple leaves. Everybody seems exhausted by the record heat this year (again?). Autumnal equinox just around the corner. Whew!

How true and profound that this subtle transition does indeed restore the soul. This is a beautiful rendering, good Sir. Thank you for sharing your gift. I, too, get quite "verklempt" by beautiful music, poetry, etc. In fact, as I type this I am listening to the following. - Brian McKnight, One Last Cry.
