Basking in the Glory

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

The mystery isn’t in the things
I say or that I do.
The mystery is in the fact;
That God’s Son died for you.

The Holy One; Perfection,
From beginning to the end!
That He would choose to die,
Just to purchase you from men.

O the depth of love He has;
As He is living once again!
That while you were His enemy,
He chose to call you friend.

More faithful than the sunrise
Are His mercy and His grace!
To all of those wholeheartedly,
On earth, who seek His face.

What can I give of myself?
Is the question we should ask!
To help fulfill God’s holy will
And in Jesus’ glory bask.

Hophni and Phinehas weren’t
Basking in the glory;
Look it up to find out,
How they ended their own story.
