Attitudes
Charles Fields II 1955 (Fort Bragg, NC)
Peruse any of many
of the everyday sources
Of the commercial
informational discourses
Serving of interests
for the main steam of society
Stroll down the avenue
of many of our fair cities
be shocked/amazed
at ferocity/depravity/audacity,
And outright brutality
of the dictators of the outer worlds
which of course spin
around the center of life
which is your city right!
What happens there stays there …
who cares? After all, it’s a world away
Not on your life
the information highway we see
Hacked, bypassed adulterated
and bushwhacked
Special interest folks
with interests of another kind
A slight of hand
designed to realign and change
The way, you formulate
your minds view of news
But wait, there’s more
just a bit more of your time
Welcome to the conduit of pimped dreams
There for your immediate consumption
The presumption being you have the means
You’re invited don’t get too excited, yet
Take note “exclusive” limited time only. Show
A chance to set aside your dated views
Expert in collection of data of the lost patriots
In the vous of every parley
a personal view
interjected
reflective of the way
they think
Everyone should be!
shamelessly, without a blink
Parade views
as if everything else is just absurd
Using code words to justify
to magnify moods
Of guilt, shame, and filth
just to name a few
A “winner” is defined
as someone who identifies
with what is supposed
to be the accepted way
of a perfect saint.
In ways few of us might find …true
But most of us truly …
ain’t
