Sweaty frown, hovering endless ground,
Twixt parallel pure trails, glory bound;
Crimson flowers lie away in shade,
Welcoming untempted eyes of solid jade;
Clapping and cheering evade the air,
Deadened by the athlete's ever sharp stare;
Straight and narrow is the numbered path chosen
To the golden horizon - nearby, unbroken ...
