Analysis of Eternal Peace Elementary

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

The wealth of this world is so, so deceiving,
It’s the riches of the Word we should be receiving.

Without the instructions in the letter He wrote,
We’re just like a sailor that can’t find his boat.

We’re shipwrecked and ruined, alone on the shore,
The pride of this life saying: Do not be poor!

Oh, how far we’ve fallen and still have to go,
When we can’t find the time for the truths we should know.

For the pleasures of wealth uncertain and fleeting,
You’re neglecting our Lord and Him you’re mistreating.

How great shall the penalty be for this?
Remembering the judgment that ended your bliss!

Your uncircumcised heart denying the Truth,
Recalling the word that was spoken to you.

When you are in the Lord’s hand He will show you O man,
What is good, what is right and all He has planned.

You have come to this day, oh no not to live it,
No not for that reason, but instead just to give it.

Silent sounds you can hear now that no one can fathom,
Broken just for a moment by one little chasm.
