The Wondrous Circus of Life

The whole world is a circus in which we all perform
And if you know how to look, it will greatly inform
The way the sun goes down at night when you’re tired
And comes up again in the light when you wake inspired.

You’ll see real magic in the way a small leaf grows
Or how a babbling brook meanders downstream and flows
The way the song of a bird can be heard in flight
And the way the silent desert looks in the still of each night.

When the silvery moon embraces the darkening sky
Well that’s a circus for anyone who would hope to fly
Every time you watch a rainbow with wonder in your heart
Then you’re enjoying this circus and taking part.

Every time you pick up a handful of sand
And see it more as a mystery to marvel in your hand
Every time you succeed through hard work to survive
Then stop to just ponder about being alive.

For being alive is a wondrous thing
When all this happens, such a joy it does bring
For you’re acknowledging your part right then and there
In this “Circus of Life” in which we all share.

About this poem

A poem I wrote in 2010. It represents a feeling of being fortunate for just being here in this crazy circus with all its ups and downs. Just the simple things of life can help you enjoy and be grateful again. Roz Burnley
