Prince & Princess

Lay your head softly down, my dear
I promise you there is nothing to fear
The clouds, woven ribbons, up in the sky
Stage their final show, and say "goodbye"
Through the opened windows, the soft wind blows
The playful lights cast magical shadows
High above you, little lights shine
Spread across the canvas, some in a line
And in between the ink-stained mess
A charming couple, the Prince and Princess
They will dance and sing all through the night
And watch over you in the moonlight
There is no one else waiting in the dark
No more children playing in the park
They are all in their homes, safe and sound
Waiting for the sun to come back around
Until the giant red disc comes out to play
You must sleep now dear, and rest for the day
Everything is done; nothing else left to do
And always remember that I will love you
Goodnight my dear, I hope you sleep well
And if you feel frightened, do not cry or yell
I know you are brave and very strong
And you will not be on your own for too long
The Prince and Princess will always be there
Making sure you do not get a nightmare
So give them a wave, now and then
Smile and then close your eyes again
Soon you will be asleep, gently snoring
So I will come back and see you in the morning
So hush now... lay down your head
And go to sleep in your bed
