Letting Go
In a day or so I’ll leave here
Packing all my heart can take
Moving to a peaceful retreat
A secluded cabin by the lake
I’ll be gone awhile getting retuned
Giving myself the time and space
Away from the reminders of you
Trying my very best to erase
I plan on letting go of my love for you
Put it in a bottle out to “sea”
Tearing out what I must to survive this
At the cost of a part of me
I’ll shed all of the tears I can afford to
Let my eyes and soul be cleansed
Hoping for a heart transplant
Time takes too long to mend
I’ll let you go though I never had you
Your dream was meant to stay
I am just a disillusioned fool of a man
Who has to go away
