Inescapable

Inescapable

Rounding a corner to find you
Exhaling as my heart sighs
Anyone outside of us could see
What I believe is my best disguise

Entranced in a swirl of words
Soft touches, smiles, and laughs
We pass the moments unacknowledged
Unaware we are two halves

It’s paining as we separate
Moving along through our day
Mini heart attacks when I see you
There’s so much we don’t say

The inescapable truth of it
We’re playing a game just to play
Our flirtatious banter and longing
We can’t win at the end of the day

Yet in the dark of night it finds me
Weighing heavy on my heart and mind
Do you feel the same as I do
Or are you ignorantly blind?

About this poem

Two people flirting not wanting to admit their feelings perhaps.
