Heaven’s Blessings
Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)
The driest stump can come to life
When water to it flows
And if the stump is born again
It grows and grows and grows
Into a mighty oak or cedar
Elm or spruce or fern
It will be going through the flames
But it will not be burned
It must be tried and tested
So, it won’t become conceited
I’ll raise it up to be a light
So, everyone can see it
The flame is only on the top
The fire is in the belly
And still that man is not burned up
His toast just needs some jelly
The best parts of waking up
Are the blessings in your cup!
Heaven is waiting for you!
