Rain

Rain
Teardrops from the sky,
Which remind me of the tears
That fell from my eyes
As I watched you back down our drive
Never to return home
Because we were no longer your home.
The pain I felt inside
Reflected in my red eyes
And I silently asked “why?”
But I didn’t get a reply
Because I couldn’t bring myself to ask it louder
And I’m not entirely sure I wanted to know the answer,
So I sit outside and listen to the thunder
Because it echos the screams I hold in.
For fear that it would call too much attention to what I feel
And I don’t want to feel.
I understand that not everything works out.
And there wasn’t a way to work out how to make it hurt less.
So I sit outside and watch the rain fall
So it is not me who is crying instead.
