Vulnerability

The warmth of vulnerability
has wrapped itself around
Its glow enlightens the void
where sunshine once was found
Engulfed in possibility
my heart it aches to breathe
Neither mountain air nor flailing chest
provide it what it needs
The reverence of maybe
fills lungs as they expand
Exhale as I relinquish
myself into your hands
As the wax on wings of Icarus
my conscious thoughts do melt
Love not what’s seen and heard
but instead what can be felt
Do not imprison Your water
behind a dam to make a lake
Heave the floodgates open
let the rushing waters quake
If in time you find
your lake is running dry
look up to the Heavens
to pray for a moistened sky
Fear not of drowning
Make it be on God you call
Only then is it safe
to close your eyes and fall
