Jaded Figurine
And when I peek into her
blue yellowish green contacts,
her deep brown aura
emits jaded steams...
facing her mirror
and when she removes her aqua blue top
the lens change back
to it's natural hazel greyish color
but the deep brown aura
still
emits jaded steams
as she remit prescribed eye drops
onto her dry lenses
the weariness that seeps out her sockets
is her only reception
Still getting dryer
Close the lids to peek at
her jaded outlook
Still standing
Jeans pressing her hips
Back sore
Shoulders tense
Mani-clench
Stress pumping thru circulatory canal bumps
Pressure struggling
Toes curling
Pedi-spasms...
Heels balancing jaded figurine
Lids open
Drops placed back on dresser
She sniffles, whimpers and sneezes 1/2 dozen in a roll
Looking down,
She wipes her eyes and sniffles again...
"Well, am I finally due for rest?,"
She questioned in recovery of
her tirade in allergy season
I slowly glance up
met the vision of my brown aura,
emitting jaded steams
in my bedroom mirror...
and nodded Yes...
About this poem
I wrote this about 17, maybe 18 years ago when I was in college, but posted it in an old Facebook group in September 2006. I wrote this poem when I was ruminating on how I miserable and uncomfortable I felt with my allergy symptoms, particularly with my eyes while wearing colored contact lenses at the time. I was reflecting on the stress of my life and on my mood for a bit too, as a parallel to the theme of the poem.
