BONSAI

BONSAI

I had a few pet names for her
As she did for me
I was ‘ Pumpkin’ mostly
She used to say so tenderly!

I called her ‘ my Princess’
Or more often the most endearing ‘ Ma’
Ma in Bengali is Mother
Because she was as loving to me as if
I was a son to her

My pet name for her was Bonsai
Because she was the quintessence
Of that Japanese culture omnipresence
She was indeed beautifully petite
As a Bonsai everywhere is
She was my Bonsai
My ever beautiful petite Bonsai
Inside me trying to burst out is a huge sigh

Her hands and feet were so delicate
So soft, velvety and petite
I used to kiss them when she was a baby
I kissed them often even when grown up
As a cuddly teddy

I can still hear her feeble cry
When as a newborn , her petite heel
Was pricked by a needle
The maternity nurse
Was drawing blood for a special test
Because she was a special baby above all

The Bonsais are supposed to last forever
Alas, my petite Bon, Bonsai did not
She departed untimely to a different realm
I have lost my princess pumpkin  Bonsai Forever to an unreachable oblivious garden

All I am left now in my mind
And In the bed of my retina
Like a video playing on and on
With no pause button
Is that terrible haunting scene
Of me going in to the funeral parlour

Trembling and devastated
Unable to hold a deluge of tears
With broken banks of my deeply hurt soul
To surface outside, seeping
An overflow of my weeping

But had to draw the last ounce of my resolve
To kiss her petite soft velvety petal like feet
For the last time from my broken heart
A final goodbye to my Bonsai heartthrob

Not a literal  Good bye but really an Au revoir
